West Bengal Polls: Suvendu Adhikari defeats CM Mamata Banerjee in Nandigram


Suvendu Adhikari has defeated West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee in Nandigram by 1736 votes.

Suvendu wrote on his Twitter: My sincere thanks to the great People of Nandigram for their love, trust, blessings, and support, and for choosing me as their representative and the MLA from #Nandigram. It is my never-ending commitment to be of service to them and working for their welfare. I am truly grateful!


“Respect the verdict of people of Nandigram, but have got landslide victory in Bengal,”  Mamata Banerjee said after the poll results.

The CM said she will move court against ‘mischief’ in Nandigram.

Talking to party supporters after trends indicate TMC heading for a huge win, Mamata Banerjee said this is a victory for Bengal, for the people of Bengal. She said our first priority is to fight against Covid.

The constituency has seen a direct contest between West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her former ministerial colleague Suvendu Adhikari, who had joined the BJP in December last year.

With trends showing the ruling Trinamool Congress seeming to have an advantage in the race in West Bengal as the party is leading on 202 seats while the Bharatiya Janata Party is leading in 78 seats.
