To augment state’s government’s fight against the raging pandemic, Punjab President of National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) Akshay Sharma on Friday here launched hi-tech fleet of 15 ambulances lassed with oxygen cylinders, masks, gloves and PPE kits.
This dedicated service, Akshay disclosed, is being immediately operationalised from Amritsar and Ludhiana today on the directions of Rahul Gandhi Ji and will be commencing from other major cities of Jalandhar, Tarn Taran and Ferozepur tomorrow.
Launched under the Congress COVID Task Force Mission, the ambulances will have a driver and ward boy each for round the clock duty for patients suffering from the infection onslaught.
Ever since the onset of this ferocious second wave, NSUI Punjab cadres have been on the forefront coordinating between patients and hospitals to provide them a bed, food, and medicines at the earliest, the Amritsar based Congress leader said.
It is overwhelming to witness people scampering for an ambulance or a particular medicine, and the situation is getting grimmer with caseloads spiking nationwide, Akshay said urging people to stay at home as much as possible till the pernicious wave is curbed.
Pertinently, NSUI Punjab had done remarkable service even during the first wave by arranging food and shelter for outside college students stuck in the state during March 2020 lockdown.
The initiative to provide them food at their hostel or PG doors had garnered all around praise and appreciation.
