Joe Root hits double century as England reach 430 for 4 on day 2 of Chennai Test

Skipper Joe Root hit a brilliant double century as England were 430 for 4 in second session on second day of the first Test match with India here on Saturday.

 

Earlier, Root notched up his third straight 150-plus score and added 92 runs with Ben Stokes to help England dominate proceedings in the first session.

Root was batting on 156 (277 balls, 16 fours, 1 six) while Stokes had reached a strokeful 63 (98 balls, 9 fours, 2 sixes) as the visiting team reached 385 for 3 at the lunch break.
