Ind vs Eng | 2nd Test, Day 2: India score 54-1; lead England by 249 runs

India scored 54 runs for the loss of one wicket and took a lead of 249 runs on the second day of the second Test, here on Sunday.

Rohit Sharma (25) and Cheteshwar Pujara (7) were at the crease at the end of the day’s play as Shubman Gill was dismissed on 14.

The hosts currently enjoy a 249-run lead over England and will look to add many more runs to give themselves the best chance of winning the match.

Ashwin has completed his five-wicket haul. He bowled Stuart Broad as India dismissed England for 134 runs. They are 195 runs behind India’s total.

Ben Foakes, playing his first match of the four-test series, top scored for the tourists with an unbeaten 42, while Ollie Pope made 22.




Rishabh Pant remained unbeaten on 57 as India was bowled out for 329 in the first innings on day two of the ongoing second Test against England here at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday.

Rohit Sharma remained the top-scorer for India as he played a knock of 161 while for England, Moeen Ali scalped four wickets while Olly Stone took three.

Resuming the second day at 300/6, India got off to a bad start as the side lost Axar Patel (5) in just the second over of the day as Moeen Ali had him stumped at the hands of wicketkeeper Ben Foakes.

Cheteshwar Pujara was hit on his right hand while batting on Day 1 of the second Test against England at Chepauk. He felt some pain later. He will not be fielding today, tweets BCCI.


In the very same over, Ali dismissed Ishant Sharma for a duck and as a result, the hosts were reduced to 301/8.

On the first day, Rohit Sharma played a knock of 161 while Ajinkya Rahane provided him support with a knock of 67 to help the hosts gain an upper hand in the match.
