Chakka Jam: Farmers block roads in Punjab, Haryana; Delhi Police on high alert

Members of 52 Khaps (Pals) are also staging a sit-in on the National Highway 19, near Antola village of Palwal district as part of the Chakka Jam.

Traffic on both sides of the highway and the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway has been halted.

Chandigarh-Zirakpur border and Panchkula-Zirakpur blocked.

Farmers are protesting at Kanhiya Chowk, the Bathinda-Amritsar highway, Lehra Bega toll plaza and Rampura on the Bathinda-Chandigarh national highway among other places in the district.

High security at Delhi

The Delhi Police have deployed over 40,000 police personnel in and around the National Capital to avoid any kind of flare up amidst calls for a countrywide chakka jam by the Kisan Unions.

Protesters detained

Police detained several protesters in the Shahidi Park area who were agitating against farm laws as part of the countrywide ‘chakka jam’ called by the farmer unions. Farmers have been protesting against the Central farm laws at the national capital’s border over the past several weeks.
